“Everybody Business” by Kehlani

On “Everybody Business”, Kehlani is addressing her romantic interest. And she begins by touting the fact that she has always been ready to go all-out for him. Moreover such a characteristic was not due to her love for him per se but rather the fact that such is how she naturally is, i.e. someone who is ready to put it all on the line for her significant other.

However, the situation reads as if others have been slandering her name. And to make a long story short, they have been depicting her as some type of promiscuous, ratchet-type woman.However, she is assuring her lover that ‘they are frontin’”. Or otherwise stated, he should not heed what they say.  For as further alluded to by the title of the song, they are just gossiping, as in being focused on her personal “business” as if it is their own. So whereas she cannot flat-out ignore what – nor apparently can her lover – what they are saying, she also asserts that their words do not have any validity.
