Blackbear’s “1 Sided Love” Lyrics Meaning

“1 Sided Love” is not your average love song. In this song, American rapper and singer Blackbear is singing from the perspective of a person in a romance with someone who has a lot of unsavory characteristics. Indeed he concludes that he’s the only one with genuine feelings for the relationship.  Then he questions the value of the effect his girl getting her heart broken would have on her. But it is not clear if he is seeking an answer to that query from himself or his girlfriend.

Blackbear’s main gripe with this woman basically boils down to her being self-centered. She also seems to be engaged in some type of drug abuse. But the most prominent issue Blackbear is battling with is his belief that she is not vested in the relationship as much as him. Thus apparently his feelings toward her are starting to change. And she must also have feelings for him too, as he could not threaten her with heartbreak if such were not so.

After all is said and done, Blackbear’s final conclusion is that the relationship is coming to an end. Again, he admits that he has changed. But he asserts this is perhaps due to the way she treated him. He is not taking pleasure in disappointing the girl. However, his knowing that she doesn’t really care for him makes the experience even harder.

The track apparently concludes with Blackbear asking himself how far he is willing to go to break this lady’s heart. And/or he is telling her to cool down before she does something to really get herself emotionally hurt.
