“Dancing’s Done” by Ava Max
Fully interpreting the lyrics of Ava Max’s “Dancing’s Done” requires us to go out on a limb a bit. Fundamentally, what we’re dealing with here is a love song. That much is at least certain, and moreover this being one of those pieces where the vocalist idealizes running away with the addressee, the apple of her eye.
Some of the wording of “Dancing’s Done” can be classified along the lines of being murky. For instance, concerning the addressee, in the chorus Ava puts forth a desire to “give into (his) dark temptation”. And she also uses other such, shall we say colorful language, such as entreating him to “take (her) to the edge of afterlife”.
But all things considered, it would probably be best if we don’t delve too deeply into those metaphors/allegories, as it is still discernible to interpret what’s being relayed without relying on such lingo.
“Dancing’s Done”
Concerning the title, what the phrase “dancing’s done” apparently represents is the stage of a romance after the initial euphoria. And it may be that the relationship between the vocalist and addressee is currently reaching that point, or in the very least Ava is able to perceive that one day it will.
So accordingly, what she is requesting from her sweetheart is twofold. First would be encouraging him not to lose heart once the inaugural or present happiness concludes. And second, Max is assuring him that she very much wants to be part of his world, ‘dark temptations’ and all. Or more simply put the vocalist is in love – so much so that, as verified in the pre-chorus, she would be lost without the addressee in her life.
So conclusively, it’s as if Ava is able to foresee that sooner or later, the two of them are going to have to make some type of concrete decision concerning the future of their relationship. Well actually, the vocalist has already decided that she’s going to stick things out. So now the onus is on the addressee to show the same type of commitment, despite the inevitable challenges that will materialize.
Release of “Dancing’s Done”
Ava Max’s people, Atlantic Records, dropped this track on 20 December 2022, at the same time revealing the cover art to the album it is associated with, “Diamonds & Dancefloors”. That project, Ava’s second LP, is slated to come out in full near the end of January, 2023.

As for Ava Max, even though her parents both hail from Albania, she is actually a native of Wisconsin, which is found in the United States’ Great Lakes’ region. And as of this track’s issuance, she is set to turn 29 years old in a couple of months.
