“From My Window” by Juice WRLD

Juice WRLD was the type of rapper who we may not come to truly appreciate for some time, despite the fact that he already passed away a couple of years ago before the dropping of this song.

It has become chic in the modern age of rap music to incorporate religious references into lyrics, usually to little or no true effect. But Juice was a lyricist who was able to do so in a manner that was more genuine than most of his mainstream contemporaries.

For instance, WRLD may not have really tried too hard to be good, but he wasn’t trying to be bad either. He knew that life wasn’t all about being a music star. And even though getting high was obviously his favorite pastime, he has also repeatedly acknowledged, including to some degree in this piece, that such a modus operandi was less-than-ideal. 

Moreover, the intro “From My Window” features a rather rude reference to convincing a girl to perform a sex act on him, buttressed by a later espousement of opportunistic sex in the first verse. But then in the second, the vocalist goes about sort of sympathizing with ladies who have lost their “soul” to “Satan”.

So conclusively, perhaps we can say that even though Juice WRLD had barely reached full adulthood before passing away, his lyrics are geared towards a mature-minded audience – either that or youth like himself who really didn’t give AF. For it is only those true groups of people who would really be able to appreciate and understand the dichotomy of his artistry when it comes to subjects like drug consumption.

When was “From My Window” released?

Prior to the official release date of “From My Window” in December of 2021, it was leaked multiple times online. It’s most notable leak occurred in June of 2020. The song was eventually added to the second posthumous album of Juice Wrld (“Fighting Demons”) and officially released on December 10th, 2021.
