“High Today” by Wiz Khalifa (ft. Logic)

The chorus of “High Today” is based on the artists’ (Wiz Khalifa and Logic’s) enjoyment of grass. This is what they mean when they state they’re “high today”, as in “puffin’ the J”, i.e. smoking a grass-filled joint, which gets them high. But as for their individual verses, this is not the topics that they actually harp on. 

Rapper Khalifa primarily focuses on his “grind”, i.e. the all-encompassing work ethic which his success is contributable to. Meanwhile Logic, who always goes out of his way to drop deep lyrics, comes forth with a similarly-themed verse. But in the process he also elaborates on the complexities of his overall money-chasing mentality. 

So conclusively, we can say that this track is dual-themed. On one hand we have the rappers noting their affinity for grass. And on another they are speaking to their professional drive.

Wiz and Logic wrote “High Today” alongside the track’s producer, Ryan Ellis.

This is actually the fourth time Logic and Wiz have collaborated. Their collaboration history actually dates back to 2016.

This track was released on 20 April 2020 (in recognition of the 420 weed holiday) as part of Wiz’s EP titled “The Saga of Wiz Khalifa”.
