Logic’s “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” Lyrics Meaning

“Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” is a 2019 from the highly-literate rapper, Logic. This track is very personal and speaks to things that many fans ponder about – the negative psychological and social ramifications that come with being a successful rapper in the modern world. In other words, Logic uses this song to recount his own issues and indeed insecurities when dealing with this aspect of his fame.

One thing that can definitely be gleaned from this track is that life is not a bed of roses, even for a big-name artist like Logic. For despite the fact that he is financially successful, he still deals with the constant fear of failure. In fact he points out that getting paid is not a remedy for the insecurities that all people generally feel. And his fear of failing does not seem to be economically-based as much as it is that fact that if he were to fall, he would do so in the public spotlight.

Indeed there seems to be a never-ending stream of people on social media saying he will never compare to those on top of the game. Not only do they say that, but they also make a bunch of extremely-personal, hateful comments about his race, hairline and even in some instances encouraging him to commit suicide.

Of course being exposed to such hatred and negativity, on top of his own inbred anxieties, are having a depressing effect on Logic. And sometimes he feels like the remedy to this situation is rolling a blunt.  Yet other times his thoughts are a lot darker and more self-destructive. However, ultimately he understands that the true solution to his “dangerous mind” is to put his ego aside and instead to practice self-love.
