“I Found Someone” by Cher

As the title (“I Found Someone”) implies, Cher confesses to her significant other that she has found someone to replace him. Apparently, Cher gave up on their love because her partner was not there when she needed him most. The hurt she felt got to her, making her realize that what she thought she felt was not actually love, but a void she wanted someone to fill.

Cher’s version came out a year later, in November 1987. Her version performed much better than Branigan’s. For example, it was a top 10 hit for Cher in the United States. In the United Kingdom, it performed even better, peaking at position 5. In addition to being a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom and America, Cher’s “I Found Someone” also made it into the top 10 in the following countries:

Cher’s rendition was released (through Geffen Records) as a single from her 18th studio album, which she titled after herself (“Cher”). And the version in question was produced by its co-writer, Michael Bolton. And it should also be noted that Bolton later went on to release his own version of this song too.
