“I Still Do” by Why Don’t We

To begin with, it should be noted that Why Don’t We are relaying this song (“I Still Do”) post-breakup.  At the beginning it is made clear that despite being in a turbulent relationship with the addressee of the track (i.e. their significant other), they still derive pleasure from seeing her “strip down after” they argue. But by the time the pre-chorus rolls around, we see that apparently these conflicts contributed to their relationship dissolving completely, and “a couple of months” have transpired since then. 

And the homeys miss their ex. So the chorus features them stating that they “still do” both “love” and “hate” this particular lady. Or another way of looking at it is now that ‘loneliness’ has set in, they are compelled to apologize in attempt to get back close to her. But at the same time, they obviously have not forgotten what drew the two of them apart in the first place, as in the aforementioned disputes.

But at the end of the day, the bottom line is that they still desire their ex. And they are earnestly hoping that she feels the same also.

Release of “I Still Do”

Why Don’t We released “I Still Do” via Atlantic Records on 26 July 2019. They were able to drop the song while simultaneously being in the midst of “The 8 Letters Tour” across the United States. This track appears on the band’s second studio album. FYI, the singles “Big Plans“, “Cold In LA” and “Come To Brazil” also appear on this album.

iTunes Success

“I Still Do” cracked the top 10 of the iTunes sales’ chart for the United States within hours of its release. Throughout iTunes history, not too many songs have achieved this feat!
