“It’s You” by Ali Gatie

Most of the lyrics of Ali Gatie’s “It’s You” are dedicated to the singer expressing reservations about falling in love. But still, the addressee is someone whom he is smitten with. So he is basically pleading with her, if they do take it there, not to break his heart, for he is well experienced in being “broken before” and fears such transpiring again. 

And whereas such apprehension jumps out as being the main sentiment of “It’s You”, such is not as Ali intended it. Rather the primary feeling being expressing is that he is in fact in love. And as such, due to the feelings he has for this lady, he is intent on conquering his fears and venturing once again to step upon the battlefield we call romance. He’s ready to this because at the end of the day, he knows that if  he is successful, the joy he will experience would have been worth taking the risk. 

So succinctly put, “It’s You” is very much a love song.  Yes, the singer is indeed “delicate”. But his emotional frailty aside, he is telling this lady that if he does ever give his heart to someone again in the future, it will undeniably be her.

Facts about “It’s You”

“It’s You” was released by a label called Li$n in conjunction with Warner Records on 14 June 2019.  It is featured on Ali Gatie’s maiden album, “You”.

“It’s You” made it onto the Billboard Hot 100. And in doing so it became Ali Gatie’s first appearance on this all-important music ranking.

And outside of the US, the track also charted in over 20 other countries. This includes scoring a number one in Belgium and Malaysia and also appearing on the UK Singles Chart. Moreover the tune has been certified multi-Platinum in Ali Gatie’s home country of Canada, as well as Brazil.

Ali Gatie wrote “It’s You”.  And according to him, he did so in just 15 minutes.
