“Nobody Like Us” by Ali Gatie

There isn’t much information available on this song as of its release on 11 August 2023, outside of the fact that “Nobody Like Us” was written by Ali Gatie.

Gatie’s first studio album, 2022’s “Who Hurt You?”, didn’t perform particularly well. But he has dropped two EPs, also through Warner Records – 2019’s “You” and 2021’s “The Idea of Her” – the first of which appeared on both the Billboard 200 and his native Canadian Albums Chart.

The Lyrics of “Nobody Like Us”

This is, most simply put, a love song and a pretty straightforward one at that. The title is designed to point to the idea of the vocalist viewing his romance with the addressee as one which is particularly unique. He has come to this conclusion for three primary reasons. One, as implied in the first verse, is that most relationships tend to fail. In other words, their romance firmly standing up to the test of time has convinced Ali that it is real.

Secondly, as alluded to in the second verse, is because people are hating on their relationship, as if he and his partner are too “young and dumb” to understand what true love feels like. He does not count them as viable critics though, but they themselves “never understood” what is it to be truly and deeply smitten, besides that fact that they don’t truly believe in love to begin with.

And third, as inferred in the chorus, is because Ali truly is head over heels, even after being involved with the other party for some time, and he’s obviously convinced that she feels the same. Or as put forth going back to the first verse, he doesn’t know if such a thing as soulmates actually exists, but if it does, then for him she’s definitely the one.

“Some people fall in love in a couple of weeks
Some people break up ’cause their love’s not real”
Some people break trust and think it’s not that deep
Lot of people in love but nobody like us”
