“Let Me Get Me” by Selena Gomez
In this song, Selena Gomez is actually addressing herself. And what she is saying is that at the moment she is going through some type of internally-edifying experience. And in the process she does not want her own mind to come up with an excuse as to why she cannot be so happy. So the implication is that her ‘self-sabotaging’ nature has been regularly doing so in the past. That would also imply that the narrator is normally depressed. But now it can be said that she is taking a stand against preventing such self-depreciation, if you will, from occurring henceforth.
