“Vulnerable” by Selena Gomez

The addressee of “Vulnerable” would logically be a new romantic interest whom the singer (Selena Gomez) is now about to get truly intimate with. So she is trying to ascertain his level of commitment. That is she wonders if he can actually handle all of her, both the good and the bad. And the reason for her skepticism appears to be the young lady having fallen in love before, only to have those situations end in disappointment.

But this is not to imply that she is fearful, as in being shook in terms of falling in love again. Rather she understands that she is indeed “vulnerable” emotionally and does not intend to change. Apparently she knows that giving herself to someone will put her in the position to have her heart broken. Yet the prospect of such is not going to prevent her from freely loving the right guy. But before she does so, she wants to make sure that said individual truly has her best interests in mind in addition to him, once again, being able to actually handle all of the pleasure and pain she has to offer.

Facts about “Vulnerable”

Selena Gomez first teased the release of this song, via Twitter, on 4 January 2020.

It was formally dropped a few days later, on 10 January 2020, as part of her third album, which she titled “Rare”. And the label behind the track is Interscope Records.

The producers of “Vulnerable” are Jon Bellion and The Monsters & Strangerz (Jordan Johnson and Stefan Johnson). And they also contributed to the lyrical composition of the track along with Amy Allen and Selena herself.

It has been speculated that “Vulnerable” harps back to Selena’s former romantic relationships with pop stars Justin Bieber and The Weeknd. And whereas it is obviously partially based on the singer’s past romances, there is no solid evidence to support this theory.
