“TIMEZONE” by Måneskin

On Måneskin’s “TIMEZONE”, Damiano is spazzing against the machine in his own special, romance-related way. The addressee is his lover and moreover one whom he is separated from by “7,000 miles”. In other words, this person is situated in “a different timezone”. They are so far away that they cannot readily see each other.

But more to the point, besides for the fact the vocalist obviously loves her, would be the nature of his profession being what’s keeping them apart. He wants to be with the addressee, but his touring lifestyle is not compatible with such aspirations.

Under normal circumstances, these types of songs tend to conclude with the singer asserting that even though he’s a successful artist in the game, being forced away from the woman he loves has him heartbroken. But Damiano takes a completely different stance.

He goes about basically asserting that his music career, i.e. “this fame”, is way less important than his sweetheart. Therefore, the vocalist comes off as if he is on the verge of forsaking his contracts and going home for good instead. But that said, we will take that as more of an ideological declaration as opposed to Måneskin actually planning to quit the industry.
