“Westcoast Collective” by Dominic Fike

According to history, the “collective” which Dominic Fike is referring to is a musical group he used to belonged to at a very young age called Backhouse. This is a crew which, as the title suggests, resided in southwest Florida. And the first verse of the song appears to be centered on the singer recollecting on time spent with this crew. However, in the second verse, he is addressing someone who he noticeably has a strained relationship with. And what he is telling this person is that he or she shouldn’t be too cocky and try to press forward alone, without any backup. But again, it is not specified exactly whom he is speaking to. However, considering the historical theme of the song, it is very much possible that he is addressing one of his former Backhouse group mates.
