“Now or Never 2.0” by PnB Rock

The track centers on PnB Rock mourning over a slain friend as well as being a bit anxious about his own life. The latter is due to the rapper being surrounded by a bunch of unsavory characters as well as his losing faith in his ‘hood in general due to the fact that it took away his brethren. He also delves into his incarceration and his belief that “the system” is against people such as himself.

So overall, this is one of the more depressing – for lack of better word – tracks by PnB Rock, where instead of rapping about money, women or the usual fanfare, he takes a grounded, serious and reflective approach to the song.

Facts about “Now or Never 2.0”

  • The “2.0” in the title actually comes from the fact that this is the remix of the track “Now or Never” by Members Only, a group founded by the late rapper XXXTentacion (who was also a buddy of PnB’s). In fact it is theorized that Members Only actually reference XXXTentacion’s death in the original version of this track. It is important to mention that the mourning of a slain friend is also being carried over into PnB’s rendition.
  • In fact PnB himself remixed this song not only after being released from prison but also after learning one of his own homeys suffered a very-violent shooting death. In other words, in the wake of those events the original version of “Now or Never” really ‘spoke to him’.
  • This track, which was formally dropped by Atlantic Records on 2019, is featured on PnB Rock’s second album TrapStar Turnt PopStar.
  • In addition to PnB, Members Only are credited as co-writers. Nicholas Cavalieri alongside Peter Kim and A!tch also receive songwriting credits on “Now or Never 2.0”.
