“See you Soon” by Beabadoobee

“See you Soon” is one of those cases in which the lyrics of a song are so – for lack of a better word – abstract, that it would be best if we resort immediately and mostly to the artist’s explanation of the track. And according to Beabadoobee, what this song is actually based on is the notion that making mistakes in life is acceptable. According to the artist, mistakes are perfectly acceptable so long as the experience palpably forwards your self-development.

Also as can be ascertained by the title, this is an interpersonal song, i.e. one in which an addressee is involved. And going back to the overall ambiguity of the lyrics, it isn’t abundantly clear what type of relationship said individual has with the vocalist. Indeed, it wouldn’t be completely out of the way to postulate that this piece may be a soliloquy.

But in any event, what the vocalist is apparently expressing is needing time to separate themselves from the addressee, once again largely in the name of self-growth. But the chorus also reveals that a lingering desire remains to be with this person.
