“Socks” by Dominic Fike
Like other songs on Dominic Fike’s “Don’t Forget About Me, Demos” EP, the lyrics of “Socks” aren’t necessarily straightforward but rather rely on a considerable degree of symbolism. However, it is apparently made clear near the end of the second verse that Dominic is singing to his girlfriend. And it seems the situation reads like this. At one point in the past, they had parted ways. However, now they are getting back together. Indeed she is even coming to live with him. But based on their past experience, he is now keeping himself “on guard” against any instances which may once again cause serious beef between the two of them.
Meaning of Title (“Socks”)
Meanwhile the title of this song is based on Dominic’s assertion that he has so many pairs of socks that he can’t “keep track” of them. This leads to him subsequently proclaiming that he is “irresponsible”.

And whereas it is not specified how exactly this particular narrative ties into the romance storyline, Dominic may be saying something important, in a roundabout way. And this is that his girlfriend, i.e. the aforementioned lady, had a tendency to negatively criticize him.
