“I Believe in You” by Kylie Minogue

The verses of “I Believe in You” feature Kylie Minogue listing a number of things that she “don’t believe” in. But all of that is a setup leading to the hook. For what the chorus centers on is one thing that she does believe in. And that, as indicated by the title, would be the addressee, i.e. the person the vocalist is singing to.

The nature of the relationship between her and this individual is not revealed. But as implied by the chorus, it is someone whom she is clearly closely associated with, i.e. a loved one. Therefore, Minogue also uses the opportunity to let this individual know that if he or she “ever had to go away”, she would be absolutely devastated.
