“I Can See” by Mac Miller

The titular phrase is based on the vocalist’s desire to “see” something which will make him feel internally edified. In other words, it can be said that he has gotten to the point where he’s not sure what he’s living for. And at times life feels as if it is “but a dream”. But the ultimate idea it seems he is speaking to is one akin to inspiring individuals who may feel just as disenchanted as himself to keep forging ahead. And in doing so they will eventually “see” something which will give them a palpable sense of the value of life.

So perhaps we can conclude that in his current state, the vocalist is dealing with an affliction similar to depression due to deriving minimal achievements from life. And he understands that others are experiencing likewise. Yet he also believes that somewhere, even if he doesn’t known the location so to speak, lies “something” which will edify his existence. And similarly other individuals too must keep the faith that they will find their own respective edification.
