“I Like You (A Happier Song)” by Post Malone (ft. Doja Cat)

Post Malone’s “I Like You (A Happier Song)” is a love song, hip-hop style. As such, even though there appears to be genuine feelings between the two parties involved, riches play a major role in their relationship, with racks being thrown around in a way that implies this is indeed a wealthy association.

Also as relayed, Doja already has a boyfriend, and Posty, being “famous” and all, himself has access to various “h*es”. But what he rather desires is “a good girl”, i.e. someone to settle down with. And Cat too doesn’t have any qualms about him ‘stealing’ her away from her boyfriend.

So even though there are enough materialistic and outward observations being made, such as Malone noting that Doja’s “a-s is huge”, the thesis sentiment is apparently that the vocalists “just want” each other. In other words, yes, they are afforded the opportunity to travel around the world and buy each other extravagant gifts, which they do in fact capitalize on. But what they really relish is each other’s companionship.
