“La Santa” by Bad Bunny (ft. Daddy Yankee)

In “La Santa”, Bad Bunny and Daddy Yankee are addressing the same type of lady, which would be someone they are romantically involved with. Or more to the actual point, this lady has decided that she wants to engage in a serious relationship with the vocalist. However, he is not keen on entertaining that idea. And the reason for this disposition is that he entered the relationship thinking it would be more akin to a fling.

Indeed the title of this song loosely translates to English as the word “saint”. And the way it fits into the narrative is that the singers are pointing out to the female addressee(s) that neither she nor they are saints. Indeed Bad Bunny reminds her that she ‘loves to twerk’, which may indicate that she is an exotic dancer or someone of the sort. So basically what they are trying to say is that if she wasn’t a good girl when they met, then she shouldn’t try to act like one now. And once again, they are making such an assertion to rationalize the fact that they do not have any intentions of getting into a serious romance with her at the time. Furthermore, the narrator obviously got involved with her believing that she was in it for the short term also.
