“The Way” by Trippie Redd (ft. Russ)
Trippie Redd’s “The Way” is a true love song. And it is based on how the featured romantic relationships, which the vocalists (Redd and Russ) themselves are personally involved in, have “found a way” to survive despite going through their fair share of difficulties. And according to the pre-chorus, this realization has made the singers love their partners even more. But going back to the problems present in these romances, that’s what the verses themselves harp on.
And in Trippie Redd’s case it reads as if his girl may have left him. Meanwhile Russ takes more of a psychological approach, alluding to the idea that he and his partner have “baggage”, i.e. past romantic issues which need to resolved before they can peacefully coexist. But as far as the chorus itself is concerned, obviously these relationship-threatening factors have not actually led to the dissolution of the romance. And once again that’s the particular aspect of the association which the artists are celebrating.
